My textile creation expedition with a hot glue gun

Experimenting with textiles can be both fun and challenging, especially when unconventional tools are involved. I recently dabbled in creating a textile piece using a hot glue gun, and here's a peek into my experience.

Process & Design

I set out with a straightforward plan: use the hot glue gun and red filament to design a rectangle, with a heart as the focal point. With a steady hand and an eye for symmetry, I began drawing the shape, ensuring the lines were of consistent thickness. The heart took center stage, merging seamlessly into the grid.

Challenges Faced

While the design sounds simple, working with the hot glue gun was tricky. Ensuring a consistent flow of glue with each press was challenging. Moreover, as the filament neared its end, seamlessly transitioning to a new one without disrupting the flow was another hurdle I faced.

Choices & Inspiration

The choice of red as the primary color was influenced by the heart's universal representation of love. The grid's design, while aesthetic, was also symbolic of connections and interwoven relationships.
